Plant A Row for the Hungry is a people-helping-people program that encourages gardeners to grow a little extra and donate the produce to local soup kitchens and food pantries serving the homeless and hungry in their local communities.

The Master Gardeners of York County sponsor the local PAR Garden by providing funds for improvements and maintenance. We are involved with helping plant, seed, cultivate and generally tend the garden on a weekly basis.

This garden has been providing food for a local Ft. Mill charity since 2003 and has provided over four thousand pounds of fresh produce since the garden began producing. The Master Gardeners volunteer their assistance due to their love of gardening and the ability to make a difference by helping to provide fresh food for the needy. Any hours worked in the garden are also counted towards the Master Gardener volunteer requirements.
